Top bar & account settings

Overview

The top bar reads in two halves, split by a thin rule: the system (the status pill and Search) and you (Activity, Inbox and the user menu). Workspace switching is not in the top bar — it is the top of the left rail, because the workspace is the context of everything in that rail. On a phone, where there is no rail, the switcher heads the navigation sheet.

Status pill

One message in one tone, the worst state winning: Clicking the pill opens System status: engine and real-time state separately, the agent breakdown (total, running, idle, queued) while it is current, and — when agents are in error — the agents themselves, each linking to /crews?agent=<slug>. Data comes from GET /api/v1/agents/crews-status; the errored list reads GET /api/v1/agents only while the popover is open.

User menu

  • The header (avatar, name, e-mail) opens Settings → Profile; under it, your role in the current workspace.
  • Theme — Dark / Light / System inline. Accent and the rest live in Settings → Appearance.
  • Notification sounds — the master on/off switch; detail in Settings → Notification sounds.
  • Notification preferences — your category × channel matrix (/integrations?tab=notifications&section=preferences).
  • Sessions & CLI tokens — with the number of active browser sessions.
  • Connect CLI… — signs a terminal in with a one-time code; see CLI pairing.
  • Help & resources — Documentation, What’s new, Report an issue, GitHub.
  • Log out, with the running build (v0.x or dev · <commit>) beside it.
Restricted sessions are not offered Notification preferences or Connect CLI.

Settings → Appearance

/settings?tab=appearance
  • Theme — Dark, Light or System (follows the OS).
    • In light, the left rail, section panels and cards are white on a quiet grey page ground.
  • Accent — eight presets as large swatches in spectrum order: Blue (default), Sky, Teal, Indigo, Violet, Fuchsia, Pink, Graphite. They tint buttons, links, chips, switches and the focus ring, shown live in a preview strip. Green, red and amber are never accents — they mean done, failed and needs-attention.
    • Team colour (its own row under the swatches) uses the workspace’s brand colour from Settings → General → Pages appearance → Brand accent. Its hue and saturation are kept and each shade’s lightness is adjusted until it meets WCAG AA (4.5:1) on the background and cards, so a light brand colour like mint still gets readable buttons and links. Switching workspace switches the colour; a workspace without one shows Blue.
  • Text size — Small, Default or Large. Scales text, spacing and controls together (the interface is rem-based), like browser zoom but kept with your account.
  • Density — Comfortable or Compact. Compact tightens the vertical padding of sidebar rows, settings rows and table cells on mouse/trackpad devices; text size and touch targets do not change.
  • Sidebar — Rail · expand on hover (default), Rail, or Pinned open; the same modes as the switch at the bottom of the rail and ⌘B, which now also sync.
  • Reduce motion — System (the OS setting), On (no transitions or animations), Off (full motion even if the OS asks for less).
  • Sync across devices — on by default. Theme, accent, text size, density, sidebar and motion are stored with your account under the appearance key of the per-user preference store (GET/PUT /api/v1/me/preferences/appearance; CLI: crewship preferences). Turning sync on adopts the value already saved on the account; with sync off nothing is sent and the choices stay in this browser.

Settings → General → Pages appearance

The palette agents use when they build Page applications (ADMIN and up edit, everyone reads). Until an admin picks something else, every Page wears the Crewship palette — the product’s own dark theme with its brand blue (#1E7BFE on #0A0B0E); a workspace that never customised stores {} and so follows any later change to that default. A badge in the card header says what is in use: Crewship default, a preset’s name, or Custom.
  • Theme — Crewship (default), Crewship light, Midnight, Paper, or Custom…. Picking a preset sets all six colours; editing any colour makes it Custom.
  • Colours — Accent, Background, Cards, Borders, Text, Secondary text, each with a swatch (opens the colour picker) and a hex field. Text colours carry one AA / Low badge for the worse of their contrast on background and cards; the exact ratios are in its tooltip.
  • Live sample — a small Page in the palette: header, three figures, a card with a button and a link. Preview opens a full sample Page.
  • Reset to Crewship default — shown for a customised palette; saves {} so the workspace follows the default again.
  • The Accent is also everyone’s Team colour option in Appearance.
The card stacks to one column on phones and tablets (presets two or three across, colours above the sample) and goes side by side from desktop width.

Where personal settings are stored

Everything on these pages is stored with your user, not with the browser, in the per-user preference store (user_preferences, one row per user and key; GET /api/v1/me/preferences, CLI crewship preferences list): A new user starts on the defaults — Dark, Blue, Default text size, Comfortable, sidebar rail with hover, motion following the OS, sounds off — and gets their own rows on the first change. The browser keeps a copy so the first paint is already right; on sign-in the server copy wins. Two things stay per device on purpose: the Sync across devices switch itself, and the browser’s permission to play audio.

Settings → Sessions & tokens

/settings?tab=sessions — every browser session and CLI token that can act as you, each revocable. This used to be the bottom card of Profile.
